Supporting children to grow both roots and wings is one of the hardest things we, parents, have to do. The kind of self-confidence that Lucia seems to display shows you've been doing a pretty good job, Laura. Also, she's a lucky girl for having a mother who realizes, as bittersweet as it feels, that she needs to step aside and let the child choose. Unfortunately, many kids don't have that luck :D
