So true! At the beginning of my marriage, I used to get very upset with my husband for various things he would say, and I was interpreting by certain assumptions and connections that were already in my head.

He would often tell me: "Take my words as they are. Please try to hear what I'm actually saying, not what you think I'm saying."

Boy, it was difficult. And this is just one example where I act based on the programs in my head...
