My son is still very young, but my husband and I have often talked about the kind of education we'd like to offer him. We are discontent with the quality of the educational process in public schools. Yet at the same time, we can't help but wonder if we have what it takes to provide those personalized instructions... And how on earth are we supposed to know better than a teacher in what ways and what directions to stimulate the child? After all, teachers have a lot more than the study of their discipline. They are supposedly instructed in the psychology of education. Again, they can tell what to expect from a child, developmentally, depending on his age. I guess what I'm trying to say is that schooling isn't just about teaching children course materials. Another, more significant part, aims to help children adjust to the world in a way that fits them, and this last part I'm not sure if I can handle myself. Does that make any sense?
