Just this morning, while reading a parenting book, I came across the idea of how journaling helps us overcome difficult moments. It said that journaling, just like telling ourselves the stories of what we've been through, helps us process both the facts (with our "left brain") and the emotions (with our "right brain") we felt, therefore aligning our left and right brain hemispheres and making better sense of the experience. Journaling brings clarity but also acceptance and emotional discharge regarding experiences that would otherwise keep tormenting us...
