I'm no therapist, but I have a kid, and this sounds like terrible advice to me.

And didn't you need moments of mental clarity and quietness? Kids are a no-no for this :D

If it's meant to be a form of "it could be worse" lesson, like in that old story with the rabi, it doesn't work that way because once the kids are in the house, you can't get them out for like at least 18 years!
