I can't imagine the struggle...

I guess alcoholism acts as a higher power that one cannot resonate with. You can't just be in a relationship with it, you have to break up, or it will break you. Then again, it often feels like you're powerless while trying to break up with it.

Both my grandfathers had this issue, and, as a child, I've never really understood this side of theirs. Then again, I didn't have the chance to ask them about it, so I'm now getting to understand them a little bit, by reading what it's like, from others...
