“All I really gotta do is live and die, but I’m in a hurry and don’t know why”
A song from 1992, so so actual even today.
--
This morning, I was in a hurry, running from a neverending list of to-dos.
Scrolling Facebook while hoping that by the time I put down my phone, my tasks will miraculously evaporate, and I won’t have to deal with them anymore.
Not really, just running from reality. When I saw this reel with this song, that stopped me in my tracks:
A dad who hits play Alabama’s song I’m In A Hurry (And Don’t Know Why) to slow down his threenager girl and fournado boy.
So, I had to look up the song.
And now, I’m feeling kinda blue, and I don’t know why, because really all I’ve got to do is work and then play with my almost fivenager little boy.
A little boy who’s in no hurry, by the way.
Who…
If he sees something cool or exciting, like an ant or a spider, he can totally forget what he was up to and stop and stare at it for as long as it takes.
If he wants to eat something but sees something else in the kitchen on the way to the fridge, he has no problem gulping at it and forgets about that other thing in the fridge.
If he wants to play just comes to me and tells me to leave client work and come play, asking when I tell him I can’t, says…
“What do you mean you can’t stop working? You just hit this button, and the computer shuts down. Do you want me to do it for you?”
If he’s ever going to grow up and have a wife and kids, he’s already decided it will be in his house.
